As we know, Nurses with Purpose has and will be affected by the current state of our world due to COVID-19. We want to thank all of the nurses who are working on the frontlines and who continue to go out daily making sacrifices for the call of duty. We also want to say a special thank you to the medical mission team members who served in our March Medical Missions in South Africa when the pandemic began. These extraordinary nurses jumped right in and assisted with the needs of the community on the brink of the novel corona virus. The nurses provided education through various information sessions in local communities along with demonstrations on safe sanitation practices.
Safety and security has always been top priority especially when traveling abroad with our teams. We follow the guidelines of our local state and government officials. The travel industry has been tremendously affected and with international boarders closed at ports of entry to the countries in which we serve, we will continue to help fight the battle in our home territory of the US.
With The World Health Assembly designating 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, to honor the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and to advance nurses’ vital role in transforming health care around the world, we feel this title came as a whirlwind in such a way we did not see coming. But as for many of us, we stand strong. We are nurses with purpose and will continue the good fight. It is not only the year of the nurse but the year history was made.
